Nest Thermostat Installation in Belfast

Cosy Control installs Google Nest thermostats across Belfast and Greater Belfast. We fit the Heat Link at your boiler, set Nest up on your phone, and give you a straight answer on where Nest stands in Europe before you buy.

What’s included

A Nest fitted properly

  • A free survey

We check your boiler, the wiring at your old programmer and your Wi-Fi, and tell you honestly whether Nest is the right fit.

  • The right Nest for your system

The Learning Thermostat or the Thermostat E, depending on what you want it to do and whether you have a hot water tank.

  • Heat Link wired at the boiler

It runs on 230V mains power and replaces your old programmer, so it’s wired, powered up and tested properly.

  • Thermostat in the right spot

Somewhere it reads the room properly, away from radiators, sunlight and draughts.

  • App set up with you

We set up the Google Home app on your phone and walk you through how Nest learns your routine.

  • Advice for zoned homes

Got more than one heating zone? Each zone can have its own Nest thermostat.

The honest bit

Is Nest being discontinued?

Not for the models on sale now, but it’s worth knowing where things stand before you buy.

  • No new Nest thermostats for Europe. In April 2025 Google said it won’t launch new Nest thermostats here.
  • Current models are still supported. The 3rd-generation Learning Thermostat and the Thermostat E are sold while stock lasts and still get security updates and app support.
  • Older Nests have lost support. If yours no longer gets updates, a new smart thermostat is a straightforward swap: a current Nest while stock lasts, or Hive or tado°.

We fit all three, so we’ll tell you honestly whether Nest or an alternative is the better long-term choice for your home. Compare Nest with Hive and tado°.

Which Nest?

Two models, one big limitation

Learns your routine

Nest Learning Thermostat

Picks up when you like the house warm and builds its own schedule. With its Heat Link it can run your hot water too on homes with a tank.

Simpler

Nest Thermostat E

A simpler, lower-cost Nest for controlling your heating from your phone. If hot water control matters to you, ask us first and we’ll check it suits your system.

Good to know

No room-by-room valves

Google doesn’t make Nest radiator valves, so Nest can’t give each room its own schedule. If that matters, Hive or tado° is the better choice.

Who it’s for

Nest suits you if you…

  • Would rather the thermostat worked out your schedule for you
  • Already use Google Home or a Google Nest speaker or display
  • Want one thermostat for the house, or one per zone, rather than control in every room
  • Have a Nest that’s stopped getting updates and want it replaced properly
  • Run a small office or shop with one heating zone and steady opening hours
How installation works

Usually done in a single visit

  1. Survey

We look at your boiler and the wiring at your existing programmer, check your Wi-Fi, agree where the thermostat goes and confirm which Nest suits you. You get a clear quote before any work starts.

  2. Heat Link

With the power isolated, we remove your old programmer and wire the Heat Link to the mains and your boiler controls, then check the boiler fires properly.

  3. Thermostat

The Nest thermostat is mounted at the agreed spot, connected to the Heat Link and your Wi-Fi, and checked against the room temperature.

  4. Handover

We set up the app on your phone, explain how learning works, set your hot water if you have a tank, and make sure you’re comfortable before we leave.

Cost

Nest installation cost

Nest fitting starts from £75, plus the cost of the Nest thermostat itself. We don’t sell the equipment; we tell you exactly what to buy. The total depends on the model and how your boiler and wiring are set up. The survey is free and you get a clear quote before any work starts.

Homes and businesses

Not just for houses

At home, Nest learns when you’re up and out and heats around it. In a small office or shop with one zone it can follow your opening hours. If different rooms need different temperatures, look at smart heating for businesses.

FAQs

Nest installation questions

Can I install a Nest thermostat myself?

The thermostat part is simple, but the Heat Link is wired to 230V mains power and your boiler controls. That’s where mistakes stop your heating or hot water working, and why it’s a job for an installer.

Is Nest being discontinued in the UK?

Google isn’t launching new Nest thermostats in Europe. The 3rd-generation Learning Thermostat and the Thermostat E are still sold while stock lasts and still get security updates and app support.

How much does it cost to have a Nest thermostat installed?

Nest fitting starts from £75, plus the cost of the Nest thermostat itself. We don’t sell the equipment; we tell you exactly what to buy. The total depends on the model and how your boiler and wiring are set up. The survey is free and you get a clear quote before any work starts.

Can Nest control my hot water?

Yes, the Nest Learning Thermostat with its Heat Link can schedule hot water on homes with a tank. With a combi boiler there’s no hot water to schedule. For the Thermostat E, ask us and we’ll check your system.

Will Nest work with my oil or combi boiler?

Nest works with most gas and oil boilers in Northern Ireland homes, combi and conventional. We confirm your boiler and wiring on the free survey before you buy anything.

What are the downsides of a Nest thermostat?

There are no Nest radiator valves, so no room-by-room control, and Google isn’t bringing new Nest thermostats to Europe. If either matters to you, Hive or tado° may suit you better, and we fit both.
