How much does it cost to fit a smart thermostat?
Fitting starts from £75, plus the cost of the thermostat itself. We don’t sell the equipment; we tell you exactly what to buy. The total depends on the brand, whether you add smart radiator valves, and how your boiler and wiring are set up. You’ll get a clear quote before any work starts.
Can I install a smart thermostat myself?
Some people do. It usually means working with mains-voltage wiring at your boiler, and a mistake can leave you without heating or hot water. Hive, for example, says you need to be competent with electrical wiring and recommends an experienced tradesperson.
Will a smart thermostat work with my boiler?
Most combi, system and oil boilers can take smart controls, but not every model or setup suits every brand. We check your boiler, wiring and Wi-Fi on the survey before you spend anything.
Are there any downsides to smart thermostats?
A few. You need Wi-Fi for app control (your heating still runs on its schedule if the internet drops), some extra features such as tado°’s automatic away mode are paid subscriptions, and how much you save depends on how you use it. We’ll be straight with you about all of that before you buy.
Do smart thermostats really save money?
They can, mainly by not heating the house when nobody’s in and by heating only the rooms you use. The saving depends on your home and your habits, so we won’t promise a figure — we’ll set your schedules up so the controls actually get used.
Which is best: Hive, Nest or tado°?
It depends on your home and how you live. Room-by-room control, hot water, voice assistants and budget all play a part — we’ll talk you through it honestly and recommend the one that fits.
Can I control underfloor heating from my phone?
Yes. Heatmiser’s smart thermostats connect to an app so you can set each zone’s schedule and temperature from anywhere. We fit and set up the controls — not the underfloor heating pipes or mats themselves.
